Orion Challenge

Ever wanted to bake a cupcake in an orange peel? Or cook a pizza in a dutch oven? This year's Orion Challenge theme is "Master Chef", and will feature gourmet camp cooking along with challenges that will put your outdoor skills to the test.

To be held at the Yoho Scout Reserve near Fredericton on the weekend of April 1-3, the 1st Rivorton Rovers and 1st Lincoln Lighthouse Ventures are hosting the Orion Challenge in lieu of the previously scheduled Orion Klondike event.

The event is open to all Venturer Scouts, either with a company or individually, as well as Senior Scouts in their final year attending with a company.

Everyone will sleep inside the lodge on Friday night, but will have the option to build improvised shelters to sleep in on Saturday night. Groups are to come self-contained, with the exception of a few special meals that will be prepared together.

The weekend will include:

  • Dutch oven cooking
  • Outdoor skills challenges (fire building, pioneering, etc.)
  • A Secret Ingredient Supper
  • Gourmet campfire desserts (with pastry chef special guest)
  • A campfire
  • Wide games
  • Movie night
