Scouts Canada Youth to Make Their Mark on Moncton

Moncton, NB – January 5 – Scouts from across the Maritimes will gather in Moncton next weekend to help shape the future of Scouting in Canada and make an impact on the Moncton community. RoVenture 2015 will bring together over 60 Venturer Scouts and Rover Scouts aged 13-26 at the Rotary Lodge from January 9-11. The event aims to empower young people to take a leadership role in their community, and will include a food drive for the less fortunate.

The event will feature leadership training and outdoor adventure that will bring together the youth representing all three Maritime provinces, including youth from the Quebec-based Association des Scouts du Canada. Special guest Doug Reid, National Commissioner of Scouts Canada, will engage the youth in developing the Canadian Path – the next great chapter for Canadian Scouting in the 21st Century.

Scouts will be going door-to-door in the Centennial Place subdivision between 10:30 am and noon on Saturday to collect food for the West End Food Bank. Residents are encouraged to leave out non-perishable food items for collection.
